A 45-year-old man named Baljinder Singh died by suicide after jumping from the fifth floor of Guru Nanak Dev Hospital in Amritsar. He was a resident of Verka and worked in a factory.
Baljinder had come to the hospital with his family for a scheduled surgery. A few days ago, he had injured his hand and head in an accident and was earlier treated at the same hospital. He was discharged but had returned for surgery.
According to reports, while his family was with him, Baljinder suddenly went to the hospital’s rooftop and jumped off. He died on the spot.
Police reached the scene and took the body into custody. ADCP Harpal Singh said an investigation is underway. A case will be registered based on the family’s statement, and a post-mortem will be done to confirm the cause of death. Baljinder is survived by his wife and two children.
