The Punjab Police on Tuesday arrested a man named Gagandeep Singh from Tarn Taran for allegedly leaking sensitive information about Indian Army movements to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) during Operation Sindoor.
Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav confirmed the arrest on social media, revealing that the accused was in direct contact with Gopal Singh Chawla, a Pakistan-based pro-Khalistan leader.
During the arrest, police recovered a mobile phone from Singh that contained classified military details and contact information for over 20 ISI operatives.
Investigators believe Singh had been regularly sharing confidential data related to troop deployments and key strategic locations, posing a major threat to national security.
DGP Yadav also said that Singh had received payments from his Pakistani handlers through Indian financial channels. A detailed financial and technical investigation is underway to expose the entire espionage network and track down others involved.
A case has been registered under the Official Secrets Act at the City Police Station in Tarn Taran. Further investigation is ongoing.
