Major Action Taken Against Akali Leader Jagdeep Cheema. Sukhbir Badal has expelled him from the party.
Referred to as a member of a famous ‘Taksali Akali’ (traditional/old guard) family, Jagdeep Singh Cheema is a senior leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).
Reason for Expulsion: The action was taken due to “anti-party activities”
After examining a report that was submitted by the district organisation and other senior leaders, which verified Jagdeep Singh Cheema’s involvement in anti-party actions, Sukhbir Singh Badal imposed this severe measure. This action seems to be a part of the Shiromani Akali Dal’s continuing internal conflict and reorganisation. Cheema has previously participated in demonstrations or disputes with the party’s leadership about a number of matters, such as the party’s direction and membership drive.
