Ludhiana may see a new BJP ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ president announced ਅੱਜ with current president Rajnish Dhiman likely to score a hat-trick. The official announcement is expected to be made in Chandigarh where senior leaders including State President Sunil Jakhar and Working President Ashwani Sharma will be present for the swearing-in ceremony.
A total of 8 candidates were in the race for the post including Rajnish Dhiman, Sunil Modgil, Pushpinder Singh, Dinesh Sarpal, Mahesh Dutt Sharma, Shinu Vashisht, Rajinder Khatri and Rajeshwari Goswami. Sources say Dhiman has secured the highest number of votes, followed by Mahesh Dutt Sharma.
Rajnish Dhiman is being considered for reappointment mainly due to his performance – under his leadership, the party’s vote share increased and BJP won 19 out of 50 seats in the municipal elections. In the recent Lok Sabha elections BJP also led in five Ludhiana assembly segments. The final decision will be based on a report sent to the party’s high command in Delhi.
