Kunal Kamra Apologises to Fans as Police Summon Audience Over Controversial Show

Comedian Kunal Kamra has issued an apology to his fans after police summoned some of them for attending his controversial stand-up show, Naya Bharat. The show, which allegedly contained remarks against Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, has triggered multiple FIRs and a political uproar.

A Mumbai banker, who attended the performance, was called in as a witness after police registered a case against Kamra. Reports stated that the banker had to cut short a trip due to the police notice. Responding to this, Kamra took to social media platform X, saying, “I am deeply sorry for the inconvenience that attending my show has caused you.” In a sarcastic twist, he added, “Please email me so that I can schedule your next vacation anywhere in India.”

Despite the controversy, Kamra has refused to apologise for his comments. His 45-minute stand-up video has already gained over 12 million views on YouTube.

Police Summons and Legal Trouble

Mumbai Police has now issued a third summons, asking Kamra to appear for questioning on April 5 at Khar police station, where an FIR was registered against him last month. The comedian had previously ignored two summons, failing to join the investigation.

On Tuesday, police denied reports that audience members were being summoned to record statements, though notices were issued to some attendees.

Kamra, known for his outspoken views against the establishment, was born and raised in Mumbai but currently resides in Tamil Nadu. As the legal battle intensifies, all eyes are on his next move.
