In a major development in the Sidhu Moosewala murder case, Angrez Singh, the first investigating officer and a key witness, passed away late Friday night after a long illness.
Singh was the Station House Officer (SHO) of Mansa Sadar police station when Moosewala was killed in May 2022. He was one of the first to reach the crime scene and was expected to give important details in court. He was scheduled to testify on July 4.
Due to health problems, Singh had already missed a court appearance on May 23. His death may now cause more delays in the case, which has already seen many postponements.
In the last hearing, Singh was one of three main witnesses, along with Sidhu Moosewala’s father, Balkaur Singh, and police officer Sukhpal Singh. The court will now update the witness list after formally noting Singh’s death.
Earlier, key witnesses Gurpreet Singh and Gurvinder Singh had already identified the shooters, weapons, and vehicles used in the murder, helping the case move forward.
Sidhu Moosewala, a famous Punjabi singer and politician, was shot dead on May 29, 2022, in the Mansa district. His murder shocked the nation and led to strong demands for justice.
