An Indian-origin man in Pittsburgh asked the gunman, ‘Are you alright?’ and was shot dead later.

According to reports, a Pittsburgh motel manager of Indian descent was shot dead when he went outside to investigate a fight that was raging in the Robinson Township motel’s parking lot.
Rakesh Ehagaban, 50, was shot in the head at close range on Friday and passed away on the spot.

Stanley Eugene West, 37, is the accused. He faces charges of criminal homicide, attempted homicide, and recklessly endangering another person.

When Ehagaban asked, “Are you alright, bud?” West allegedly fired at him, according to the police. Additionally, officers claimed that surveillance film showed West approaching Ehagaban and then shooting him in the head with his gun as he approached within a few feet.

West reportedly suffered injuries after a run-in with the law on Friday. Officers reported that the suspect opened fire and struck a Pittsburgh detective in the leg as they pursued and got closer to his car. According to cops who spoke to CBS News, the policemen then fired back, striking West many times.

Notably, after an argument, West shot a female companion outside the motel, prompting Ehagaban to go outside to assess the situation. Allegheny County Superintendent Christopher Kearns stated that the suspect killed the motel manager by shooting him in the head when he arrived.

According to the most recent update, the woman was taken to the hospital and was listed in critical condition.

What took place during the shooting?

According to the police, West and the woman and child had been residing at the motel for almost two weeks. He also listed a house on Pittsburgh’s North Side on Page Street.

According to officers, the shooter approached the driver’s side door of the black automobile in which the mother and the child were sitting and fired at it, shattering the window.

Before the police discovered her, she managed to take the vehicle to Dick Kernick Tire & Auto Service Centre at around 1:00 pm (local time).

The toddler, who was in the back seat, was unharmed in the event, according to the police. Ehagaban went outside the motel to confront West after the woman was attacked.

Upon the shooting, the suspect “nonchalantly walks to the U-Haul and drives away,” according to the complaint.

“The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police detective who was shot during Friday’s crucial East Hills incident is resting comfortably at home with his family and with the full support of his fellow officers and the Bureau,” said Acting Chief Martin Devine in a statement. Right now, the family requests privacy.

“The Pittsburgh Bureau of Police is grateful for the incredible care provided by the doctors and nurses at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital and to all of our local law enforcement partners who work so hard to keep Allegheny County safe in the fight against violent crime,” he stated.
