Indian Community in London Holds Strong Protest Against Pakistan After Pahalgam Attack

A large group of Indian community members and diaspora gathered at the Indian High Commission in London to counter a smaller Pakistani protest against “Indian propaganda” following the Pahalgam terror attack.

The Indian protesters chanted slogans like “Bharat Mata ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram” while waving the Indian flag. They outnumbered the group of British Pakistanis across the street.

The Metropolitan Police kept both groups apart to prevent clashes as they exchanged insults.

Later, British Indian groups held a candlelight vigil at Piccadilly Circus to remember the 26 people killed in the April 22 attack.

Similar protests and vigils, called “All Eyes on Pahalgam,” took place in other UK cities such as Manchester, Edinburgh, and Belfast, condemning Pakistan’s alleged support for terrorist groups.

Community group Insight UK said the aim was to show unity against terrorism.

This protest followed a similar event outside the Pakistan High Commission on Friday, which also saw counter-protests.

A video went viral on social media showing a Pakistani official making a threatening throat-slitting gesture toward Indian protesters.
