On Wednesday, ਭਾਰਤ carried out strong and precise attacks on nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir. These included training camps, launch pads, and offices of terror groups Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Toiba. The 25-minute military operation was named Operation Sindoor.
The action was a response to the killing of 25 male tourists and a local guide in Pahalgam, Kashmir, on April 22. The attackers were linked to Pakistan-based terrorists.
ਭਾਰਤ used air-launched missiles, kamikaze drones, and artillery from the ground to hit these terror bases. Officials said about 70 terrorists were killed, and the targets were chosen using solid intelligence. Some of the camps were disguised as health centres to avoid international attention.
The Defence Ministry said the attacks were focused only on terrorist infrastructure and not on civilians or the Pakistan military. The air strikes were carried out between 1:05 am and 1:30 am.
Indian Air Force jets struck key locations in Muridke and Bahawalpur—well-known terror hubs. Other targets included camps in Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Bhimber, and Sialkot.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said ਭਾਰਤ had to act because Pakistan had done nothing to stop the terrorists even two weeks after the Pahalgam attack. He added that ਭਾਰਤ’s action was measured, careful, and responsible.
The Muridke centre, used to train the 26/11 Mumbai attackers, was hit multiple times. Bahawalpur, the base of JeM, which was involved in many attacks including the Parliament attack and Pulwama bombing, was also targeted.
Officials also said ਭਾਰਤ remains alert and ready in case Pakistan tries to respond. Airspace in several Indian states remains restricted as fighter jets stay on guard.
