On Saturday, Pakistan sent drones into Indian airspace at 26 different locations along the western border. In response, the Indian armed forces quickly launched a counter-operation and destroyed military sites in about six areas inside Pakistan. These strikes damaged Pakistan’s air surveillance and attack systems.
During a special press briefing, Indian officials said that Pakistan had attacked several Indian airbases, including those in Udhampur, Pathankot, and Bathinda. The briefing was conducted by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Army Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, and Air Force Wing Commander Vyomika Singh. They said that Pakistan’s actions were seen as clear provocation, and India responded in a controlled but firm manner.
The attacks by Pakistan included drones and high-powered weapons. India said most of these attacks were successfully stopped. However, some missiles hit civilian areas, including schools and medical centers in Srinagar, Avantipura, and Udhampur, according to Col Qureshi.
India’s swift and focused response was part of Operation Sindoor, aimed at stopping further threats and weakening Pakistan’s ability to launch similar attacks.
