ਭਾਰਤ Strengthens Global Energy Ties with OPEC, BP, and Vitol to Boost Green Transition

Union Petroleum ਮੰਤਰੀ Hardeep Singh Puri recently met with top global energy leaders to strengthen ਭਾਰਤ’s partnerships and ensure stable energy supplies during the world’s shift to green and alternative energy.

In a meeting with Haitham Al Ghais, the Secretary General of OPEC (a group of major oil-producing countries), both sides talked about ਭਾਰਤ’s strong relationship with OPEC. They focused on how to keep global oil markets stable and predictable, especially during ਅੱਜ’s geopolitical tensions. As the world’s third-largest oil importer, ਭਾਰਤ plays an important role in this partnership.

Puri also met with Murray Auchincloss, CEO of British energy giant BP. Their talks were described as positive and meaningful. They explored new opportunities to expand BP’s role in ਭਾਰਤ’s energy sector, especially in oil and gas exploration, refining, and clean energy projects. BP has already invested in ਭਾਰਤ and taken part in the ਸਰਕਾਰ’s oil and gas exploration program (OALP). In the upcoming 10th round, ਭਾਰਤ plans to explore 2.5 lakh square kilometers of land.

BP is also working with Indian companies in areas like fuel retail, natural gas, and compressed biogas — all important parts of ਭਾਰਤ’s clean energy future. BP has also set up a high-tech Global Business and Technology Center in Pune to support its international operations.

Lastly, Puri held talks with Russel Hardy, the Group CEO of Vitol, one of the world’s largest independent energy traders. They discussed the current global energy challenges and how Vitol and ਭਾਰਤ can work together across the oil and gas value chain.

These meetings show ਭਾਰਤ’s strong commitment to balancing traditional energy needs while moving towards a cleaner, greener future.
