In Ludhiana, Fraud in the Name of Doubling Money: Friend Took Investment Calling it Online Trading, Fled with Activa and Gold Ring.
A fraud case has surfaced from the Jagatpuri neighborhood of Ludhiana. A local citizen named Rahul Bhatia has claimed that his acquaintance has cost him lakhs of rupees.
Rahul Bhatia, the victim, claimed that he made friends with a young neighbor who lived close to his home. Claiming that the money would treble in a few days, the accused convinced him to participate in internet trading.
Rahul Bhatia invested one lakh rupees after being duped; however, the money did not double or return. Rahul claims that the day prior, the accused had taken his Activa scooter and claimed to be withdrawing the investment funds.
He asked Rahul for the gold ring he was wearing a short while later, stating that he wished to have one created. Rahul handed him the ring because he believed him, but the accused never came back.
Police Started Looking for the Accused
When Rahul Bhatia went to the accused’s home to find out where he was, his wife informed him that he had taken his girls with him and hadn’t returned since lunchtime. Rahul Bhatia then went to the Jagatpuri police station and lodged a complaint.
The accused is being sought, according to the Station Incharge. Additionally, a video of the incident has surfaced, showing a neighbor approaching Rahul Bhatia on an Activa and requesting the ring. It is evident from the footage that the accused and the Activa leave the scene after stealing the ring.
