Hoshiarpur on alert…

Punjab will have rain once more starting tomorrow, but today’s weather is typical: Hoshiarpur is on notice after a Pakistani embankment collapsed and a border outpost in Satpal was flooded.

Although Punjab is not under a rain alert today, the Meteorological Department predicts that a new rainy spell will start tomorrow. Following this rain, the state will see a dip in temperature. Good rain is predicted for the next few days, despite the fact that the state has gotten less rain than usual thus far.

Meanwhile, floods are also occurring in Punjab’s Ferozepur and Fazilka as a result of Pakistan, our neighbour. Water has reportedly infiltrated the Indian border as a result of the Dhussi embankment, which was constructed on Pakistan’s side, failing.

This has resulted in the border villages of Gadri Rajo, Nihala Lavera, Dhira Gara, Kitabdin Wala, Ruknewala, and Kamala Bodla being inundated entirely under water. Here, the flood has even ensnared the BSF’s frontier outpost at Satpal. Using sandbags, the soldiers attempted to block the water. In the Fazilka area, the fields in the villages of Teja Rohilla, Dona Nanka, and Mohar Jamsher have also been flooded. The border barrier has been destroyed in numerous areas as a result of the floods, which has made smuggling and infiltration more likely. To discuss this, the BSF met in special session with the police and residents.

The water level of the dams is rising quickly as a result of the neighbouring state of Himachal Pradesh’s constant rain. Since the water level in Pong Dam is currently higher above the danger level, water is regularly leaking out of the dam. In order to control the dam’s water level, officials have stated that the water’s input and outflow have been maintained at the same levels. In the meantime, things in Sultanpur Lodhi are becoming worse.
