Rapper Honey Singh’s concert at the Sector 25 Rally Ground attracted a huge crowd of music lovers today, with the event benefiting from better crowd management compared to previous concerts by AP Dhillon and Diljit Dosanjh. The earlier shows were plagued by issues like crowd mismanagement and poor traffic regulation, but these problems were largely addressed this time around.
Honey Singh made a grand entrance with his hit song Chaska and performed a mix of his latest tracks, including songs from his Millionaire album. In a special tribute to freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev, he also sang Bhagat Singh, marking Shahidi Diwas.
The improved experience was due in part to an increased police presence and the establishment of designated parking spots, which facilitated smoother entry and exit for concertgoers. Learning from past events, traffic police worked diligently to manage the flow of traffic, ensuring minimal disruption. Many fans arrived early, starting their journey as early as 4:30 pm to secure good spots and avoid congestion.
To further ease the traffic situation, a large number of attendees opted for carpooling, cab bookings, or walking short distances. However, the demand for public transportation was high, and auto-rickshaws and cabs charged inflated fares, causing inconvenience to some. Additionally, commuters faced disruptions due to traffic diversions and slow-moving vehicles.
The concert itself was a lively and energetic affair, with a powerful sound system that had bass-heavy beats and kept the audience engaged. Fans enjoyed snacks and beverages, but the area around the venue was left littered with food wrappers, plastic bottles, and empty cups, contributing to sanitation concerns.
Public restrooms near the venue, originally intended for Sector 25’s slum dwellers, were used by concertgoers, leading to hygiene issues. Furthermore, the poor street lighting around the venue created difficulties for visitors navigating the area after dark.
Despite these issues, the concert was largely seen as a success, with improved logistics and organization ensuring a more enjoyable experience for fans.
