The intense heatwave continued to sweep across Haryana and Punjab on Friday, with Sirsa once again emerging as the hottest place in both states, recording a blistering 47.6°C, according to the Meteorological Department.
In Haryana, several cities faced extreme heat, with Hisar recording 44.6°C, Narnaul at 44.3°C, Gurugram at 44°C, Rohtak at 43.1°C, and Bhiwani at 43.6°C. However, Ambala and Karnal saw some relief, with maximum temperatures settling at 38.2°C and 37.5°C, respectively.
In Punjab, Bathinda led the heat chart with 46°C, followed by Faridkot at 44°C, Amritsar at 43.6°C, Ludhiana at 43°C, Pathankot at 42.5°C, and Gurdaspur at 42°C. Patiala saw slightly lower temperatures at 39.2°C.
Chandigarh, the shared capital of both states, recorded a maximum of 39.6°C.
The Met department has warned that the heatwave conditions are likely to persist, urging people to stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities during peak hours, and take necessary precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses.
