The Haryana ਸਰਕਾਰ has presented wrestler-turned-Congress MLA Vinesh Phogat with three options under its sports policy: a ਸਰਕਾਰ job, a cash prize of Rs 4 crore, or a plot under the Haryana Shahri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP).
Phogat, an MLA from Julana in Jind ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ, is yet to respond to the offer. The decision was made during a state Cabinet meeting chaired by ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ Nayab Singh Saini on Tuesday.
The ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ stated that the benefits were offered to Phogat as a special case, given her recent situation, and in recognition of her achievements in sports. These options are typically offered to sportspersons with accomplishments comparable to winning a silver medal under the state’s sports policy.
