In a bold push to turn Haryana into a global tourism hub, the Nayab Singh Saini-led government has unveiled a sweeping vision that includes building a world-class Disneyland-style amusement park, expanding the International Gita Mahotsav, and hosting three major fairs annually at Surajkund.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, in a recent meeting with Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, discussed plans aimed at transforming Haryana into a top destination for cultural, spiritual, and entertainment tourism. He highlighted the need for central government support to make these projects a reality.
Disneyland in Gurugram: A Game-Changer
Among the headline proposals is the establishment of a Disneyland-inspired amusement park in the Delhi-NCR region, specifically in Manesar, Gurugram district. The Chief Minister said that around 500 acres near Pachgaon Chowk have been earmarked for the project, with excellent connectivity via the KMP Expressway and the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor.
“This project will be a landmark for not just Haryana but all of India,” said CM Saini. “It will generate thousands of jobs, attract global tourism, and give a major boost to the local economy.”
He noted that Gurugram, already a corporate powerhouse with many Fortune 500 companies, is an ideal location due to its infrastructure and global exposure. The upcoming Global City project nearby further strengthens the case for investing in the region.
Elevating Cultural Tourism: Surajkund and Gita Mahotsav
The Chief Minister also outlined plans to host three major annual fairs at Surajkund, in addition to the internationally acclaimed Surajkund Mela. The new events will include a Diwali Mela and a Book Fair, offering more platforms for artists, artisans, and performers from India and abroad.
Saini praised the International Surajkund Mela for showcasing India’s rich cultural tapestry and said the expanded format would give visitors more opportunities to experience Haryana’s vibrant traditions.
He also emphasized the potential of the International Gita Mahotsav to position Haryana as a leading spiritual tourism destination. The event, held in Kurukshetra, celebrates the timeless teachings of Lord Krishna and draws international participation through cultural events and crafts exhibitions.
“The Gita Mahotsav conveys a universal message of karma,” said the Chief Minister. “With greater support from the Centre, we can scale it up to truly global levels.”
Call for Central Support
CM Saini urged the Union Government to extend financial assistance for these ambitious projects. He stated that with proper investment and collaboration, Haryana could not only boost tourism revenues but also serve as a model for cultural and spiritual tourism across the country.
“Our goal is to unlock Haryana’s untapped tourism potential — from amusement parks to ancient heritage,” said Saini. “With vision, planning, and support, we can make it a reality.”
These efforts signal a major shift in Haryana’s development approach — combining heritage, spirituality, and entertainment to create a diversified and sustainable tourism economy.
