Governor Said: ਪੰਜਾਬ is Number 1 in Drug Abuse: Control Will Not be Achieved Only by the Efforts of the ਸਰਕਾਰ and a Few ਲੋਕ; Action Taken in 5 Months.
Chandigarh is commemorating Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th birthday. This time, Gulab Chand Kataria, the governor of ਪੰਜਾਬ and the administrator of Chandigarh, took part in the “Run for Unity” event at Sukhna Lake as the main guest. He discussed drug misuse in ਪੰਜਾਬ during the occasion, stating that the problem is not unique to ਪੰਜਾਬ.
“Everyone is suffering the effects of this disaster ਅੱਜ. Even though we’ve come a long way, ਪੰਜਾਬ still leads the country in drug abuse. We must overcome this obstacle for ਭਾਰਤ’s future as well as for ourselves. A powerful [country] will emerge if our youth generation becomes weak.
“Everyone will soon succeed if they work together. Succeeding in this with just the ਸਰਕਾਰ’s and a few individuals’ efforts will take time.”
In the last four to five months, he claimed, the ਸਰਕਾਰ had taken action through its agencies. “We’ve also made an effort. This involves a large number of religious leaders. Success will undoubtedly be attained if we persevere; if not now, then tomorrow.

The governor’s whole message emphasizes that the ਸਰਕਾਰ, religious authorities, and the general public must work together to address ਪੰਜਾਬ’s drug problem.
