Garbage Dumped in Sukhna Choe (River) in Mohali, Fire Set; Villagers Express Anger, Say Ghaggar River Pollution is Increasing.

The Sukhna Choe (river), which flows through the Mohali district’s Baltana region, is once again plagued by pollution. Smoke and an unpleasant odour are spreading throughout the neighbourhood as a result of some people openly disposing of their trash here and putting it on fire. Both the environment and the locals are now concerned about this issue.

According to locals, water contamination is being caused by the trash that is dumped in the Sukhna Choe, which runs straight into the Ghaggar River. An unlawful dumping site next to a school was removed as a result of the villagers’ prior protests (the text ends here, but it suggests more action was taken).

Local Residents Speak: Pollution Spreading in the Entire Area According to village residents Karm Singh, Ram Kumar, Naresh Singh, Keshav Yadav, Rajiv Kumar, Surjeet Singh, Kamal Yadav, and Tridev Kumar, the majority of people only dump their trash at the designated location established by the Nagar Parishad (Municipal Council). However, some people are dumping trash on the banks of the canal or river out of carelessness or laziness, which is causing pollution to spread over the entire area and making it difficult for the old and children to breathe.

Local Residents’ Demand
The administration has been urged by the locals to find these individuals and take severe measures against them. In order to prevent this kind of issue in the future, they have also requested that the Nagar Parishad (Municipal Council) set up appropriate rubbish disposal once more.
