Lovjit Kaur the sister-in-law of gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria (who is currently in Dibrugarh Jail), was caught by the police on Monday night at Amritsar airport while she was trying to fly to Australia.
Lovjit had recently visited Batala to attend the funeral of her mother-in-law, Harjeet Kaur, who was shot dead along with another relative, Karmveer Singh, a few weeks ago.
She had been named by Batala police in a murder case linked to gangster Gurpreet Singh alias Gora Bariar. Because of this, the police had already issued a Lookout Circular (LOC) to stop her from leaving the country.
When Lovjit reached Amritsar airport and was waiting to board her flight, the airport officials identified her through the LOC. They immediately informed the police, who arrested her and handed her over to Batala police.
Police are now questioning her to find out her role in the murder case and her connection with other suspects. She will be presented in court soon, and police will ask for her custody to continue the investigation.
