
The UT police have arrested four suspects in connection with the murder of Punjab University student Aditya Thakur, who was fatally stabbed during a musical concert at the Sector 25 campus on Friday night. The accused have been identified as Lavish, a student from CGC, Landran, and Sahil, Udey, and Raghav, all students from Khalsa College, Sector 26, Chandigarh. They are residents of Mani Majra.
According to the police, the suspects got into a minor altercation with Thakur and his friends while leaving the concert venue. Later, they met with others who suggested they return and confront Thakur and his friends. The situation turned violent when one of the suspects stabbed Thakur in the back, and another student was injured in the leg.
Initially, a case was filed under Sections 115(2), 126(2), 351(2), 109, 191(2), 191(3), and 190 of the BNS Act. Following Thakur’s death, the police added Section 103(2) (murder) to the charges.
The police are conducting raids to arrest the remaining assailants. Meanwhile, Thakur was cremated in his hometown, Amroh, in Dasuya tehsil.
