FIR Registered Against Arvind Kejriwal and Others for Alleged Public Property Act Violation

The Delhi ਪੁਲਿਸ have filed an FIR against former ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ Arvind Kejriwal and other Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders for allegedly violating the Public Property Act by misusing public funds. This case stems from a complaint lodged in 2019 by Shiv Kumar Saxena, who claimed that large hoardings featuring Kejriwal, Gulab Singh, and other political figures were unlawfully placed in public spaces across Dwarka, promoting ਸਰਕਾਰ initiatives and extending religious festival greetings.

Saxena alleged that these hoardings, funded by public money, violated the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act, 2007. Some of the posters included messages from Prime ਮੰਤਰੀ Narendra Modi and other BJP leaders.

In 2022, the Dwarka South ਪੁਲਿਸ filed a status report concluding no hoardings were found at the reported locations, leading to the dismissal of the case by the Dwarka Metropolitan Magistrate’s court. However, Saxena pursued a revision petition, which led to the Rouse Avenue court ordering a fresh hearing. Following this, the session court directed the ਪੁਲਿਸ to reconsider the case and determine if a cognisable offence had been committed.

On March 11, the court ordered the registration of an FIR, and the ਪੁਲਿਸ filed a compliance report ਅੱਜ, informing the court that the FIR has been registered. The next hearing is scheduled for April 18.
