Ferozepur Celebrates 11th International Yoga Day with Energy and Unity

Over 500 people gathered at Cantonment Stadium in Ferozepur Cantt to celebrate the 11th International Yoga Day with great enthusiasm. The event was part of the “CM di Yogshala” initiative, which offers free yoga classes across Punjab. This year’s theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” focused on promoting both personal well-being and a healthy environment.

Many prominent guests attended the event, including MLA Fauja Singh Sarari from Guru Har Sahai, Deputy Commissioner Deeptishikha Sharma, and Dr. Amandeep Kaur Gossal, who also works to promote a drug-free Ferozepur. They joined local residents in practicing yoga and encouraged everyone to include it in their daily lives.

MLA Sarari spoke about the pressures of modern life and how they often lead to health problems. He said many people realise the importance of health too late and stressed that regular yoga and exercise can help us stay fit both physically and mentally. He praised Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for starting the “CM di Yogshala” program, which is helping people across the state lead healthier lives.

DC Deeptishikha Sharma also addressed the crowd, saying that along with yoga, we should also focus on eating healthy food. She shared that yoga not only makes our bodies stronger but also helps clear the mind and keeps us more alert throughout the day. She appreciated this year’s theme and said it shows how caring for our health is closely tied to caring for the Earth.

Well-known yoga teacher Pramod Monga guided participants through different yoga poses, breathing techniques, and meditation. He explained how these practices help improve physical, mental, and even spiritual well-being.

To mark the occasion, saplings were given to the chief guests as a sign of respect, along with a request to plant more trees to help protect the environment.

Other important officials at the event included SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, IAS trainee Miss Lindhiya, SDM Gurmeet Singh Mann, Assistant Commissioner Harjot Kaur, SP Naveen Kumar, Market Committee Chairman Balraj Singh Katora, and many health and education officers, trainers, and yoga enthusiasts from all over the district.

The event was a beautiful mix of energy, awareness, and community spirit—promoting a healthier future for both people and the planet.
