A man and his son, who had come from Chandigarh, were killed in a village near Muktsar on Saturday evening. The incident happened on Lalbai Road when they were visiting their fields, according to sources.
Muktsar SSP Akhil Chaudhary confirmed the murder and said it was too early to give more details.
Sources said the victims were powerful landlords who lived in Chandigarh and rarely visited the village. Villagers also mentioned that there had been earlier murders in the same family.
Bikram Singh Mofar, a relative of the victims, said over the phone, “We had some differences with my cousin Vinay, but now my father and I are going to Abul Khurana village. Vinay’s daughter is alone now, and it will be hard for her to handle the legal matters. She hasn’t even lived in the village. We will now fully support her and fight for justice.”
