Days after BJP leader and Sufi singer Hans Raj Hans voiced support for Punjabi star Diljit Dosanjh over his collaboration with Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in the film Sardar Ji 3, several farm leaders have now come out in solidarity with the actor.
Manjit Singh Rai, ਮੁੱਖ of BKU (Doaba), visited Diljit’s native ਪਿੰਡ Dosanjh Kalan in Phagwara, urging authorities to allow the film’s release in ਭਾਰਤ. He emphasized that the movie has received widespread appreciation internationally and that art should not be restricted by political or national boundaries.
“Sardar Ji 3 has been loved by ਲੋਕ around the world. We’re only asking for it to be released in Diljit’s own country,” said Rai. He criticized those in power for their lack of tolerance and disregard for communal harmony.
Satnam Sahni, another prominent farm leader, added that this was yet another example of the marginalization of minorities in ਭਾਰਤ. He drew a comparison with international cricket matches, saying, “ਭਾਰਤ and Pakistan are set to play in the Asia Cup, and players from both countries will shake hands. If sports can cross borders, why can’t cinema?”
The leaders argued that the backlash against the film was unjust and politically driven, and they called for respecting artistic freedom and cultural exchange through cinema.
