Faridkot Police Demolish Illegal Building Linked to Drug Offenders in Jaito Under ‘War Against Drugs’ Campaign

As part of the ongoing “War against drugs” campaign, Faridkot police along with the district administration today demolished an illegally constructed building in the Chhajjgharh mohalla of Jaito town.

Faridkot SSP Dr. Pragya Jain stated that the building was unlawfully erected by Bimla Devi and Nachhattar Singh, both having multiple criminal cases registered against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The demolition was carried out after receiving approval from competent authorities, with strict security arrangements in place.

Bimla Devi faces two drug trafficking cases, while her daughter-in-law Rajni has five NDPS-related cases registered against her. Bimla’s son Soni is also involved in a criminal case under the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Nachhattar Singh has four criminal cases, including three related to drug trafficking, and his wife Banso faces three cases, one of which is under the NDPS Act.

Civil administration officials, including Naib Tehsildar Sukhwinder Singh and Executive Officer Maninderpal Randhawa, supervised the operation. Randhawa noted that repeated eviction notices were issued to the occupants, who failed to vacate, necessitating the demolition using a bulldozer.

Dr. Jain highlighted that between March and June, 329 cases were registered under the anti-drug campaign, resulting in the arrest of 492 accused, including key drug traffickers. Properties valued at over ₹4.90 crore, allegedly acquired through drug trade, have been frozen in the last ten months.

The demolition marks a continued push by Faridkot authorities to crack down on drug-related activities and dismantle the infrastructure supporting illegal narcotics trade in the region.
