Encounter Between Punjab Police and Drug Smugglers in Tarn Taran: Smuggler Arrested with Weapons.

In the Punjab district of Tarn Taran, Punjab Police have made significant progress against drug traffickers. In the Verowal area, there was a heated confrontation between the police and the smugglers. The incident happened when the miscreants opened fire on the cops while trying to escape during a police roadblock (Naka). In return, the police also fired, resulting in one smuggler being hurt by police fire and then apprehended, along with a stockpile of firearms.

The incident occurred while the police were stationing a checkpoint and patrolling the area. At that moment, a non-numbered XUV vehicle passed by. When the police signaled the suspicious vehicle to stop, the occupants sped up instead of stopping and tried to escape. Displaying swift response, the cops quickly began after them.

Finding themselves surrounded, the smugglers started firing directly at the police party. The police replied in self-defense, during which the culprit, Raman Kumar, a resident of Beas, was shot. The police apprehended him at the site while he was hurt. Upon searching him, two foreign pistols were recovered.
