Eight lakh food cards are being cut by the centre.
states, “They want to snatch the livelihood of 32 lakh people; after the vote, they have now become food thieves.”
Bhagwant Mann, the chief minister of Punjab, has charged that the central government has been reducing the number of ration cards issued under the Public Distribution System (PDS). He claimed that although Punjab is subject to separate regulations for the central government’s programs, the Centre is disobeying these regulations.
About 32 lakh people will lose their access to free rations as a result of the national government’s decision to eliminate 8 lakh, 2,000, and 994 ration cards, the chief minister stated in his report.
While criticising the BJP, Bhagwant Mann claimed that individuals who were formerly “vote thieves” had turned into “ration thieves”. He made it clear that no one would be permitted to steal their ration by the Punjabi government.
If you have a car, your ration card will be cut.
According to the CM, they have also established a standard for ration card cutting. The ration card would be cancelled if you own a four-wheeler, make more than 25 lakh, own more than 2.5 acres of property, or work for the government.
Centre doesn’t know Punjab’s culture.
What happens to a family when one sibling is hired by the government? asked the CM. He moves to the metropolis after landing a position with the government. What will become of the other family members that the card is intended for? What are the others at fault for if the ration card holder owns a car? CM asked, “Will you starve the whole family?” “As long as I am CM, I will not let a single ration card be cut.”
1.53 crore beneficiaries are still receiving rations.
According to the CM, rations have been distributed to 1 crore 53 lakh recipients thus far. However, many of them are allegedly bogus. Give us time for the remaining beneficiaries, since the Punjab government has confirmed 1 crore 29 lakh. “How are these cards cut? For six months, we have been requesting time in writing from the central administration,” he stated.
“First they bring a scheme in which they give a cooker, then a scheme to build a house, and then later they say that if you have a cooker and a house, you are not eligible for this scheme,” he continued.
Why is the government’s rule different for Punjab?
According to the CM, he has already brought up this issue with the prime minister and the home minister, enquiring as to why our schemes’ regulations differ. According to the plan, you are not included in the Prime Minister’s project if you have even one cemented brick. You are also excluded from the Prime Minister’s plan if your home has a table and a ceiling fan.
They are now claiming that you are not eligible for the prime minister’s programme if you own a scooter or an electricity meter. They now claim that the number of people receiving rations who possess a four-wheeler is almost twenty-four thousand.
