Deadly attack on Punjab Congress worker in Bathinda: AAP MLA and family members accused; Khaira says police will not take action against Kejriwal gang.

According to a Punjab Congress complaint, members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) who claimed to be followers of Talwandi Sabo MLA Baljinder Kaur viciously beat party worker Dilawar Singh. Sukhpal Singh Khaira, a Congress leader, has openly blamed the assault on the AAP MLA and her family, including her father, Darshan Singh, and two brothers. In a video that Khaira posted, the wounded Dilawar Singh is seen pointing the finger at the AAP leaders by name while sporting blood on his face. According to him, he was attacked by 15 to 20 persons close to the Channo Sharma Dhaba toll plaza, and thugs were ordered to break his legs. Dilawar Singh made the sobering declaration that the MLA and her associates would be held accountable for his demise if anything were to happen to him. The Punjab Police and the Director General of Police (DGP) have been accused by the Congress of passivity because the incident was framed as an example of the AAP’s purported “Saam, Daam, Dand, Bhed” strategy. According to Khaira, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his administration are protecting the assailants; thus, no action would be taken against them. The research draws attention to the significant political tensions and violent allegations that exist between Punjab’s two parties.
