Dalwinderjit Singh is to take charge as DC in Amritsar today: Will replace Sakshi Sawhney, who was the first woman DC of Gurugram.
Today, Dalwinderjit Singh will assume his duties as Amritsar’s next Deputy Commissioner (DC). Sakshi Sawhney, who was moved to the position of Chief Administrator of the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA), would be replaced by him.
The first female DC of Amritsar (Gurunanagri) was Sakshi Sawhney. She was in charge from September 12, 2024, for a total of one year, ten days, and thirteen days. She started the Future Tycoon Project to encourage young people to start their own businesses, among other noteworthy projects, during her time there.

Anti-Drug Campaign and Other Projects
During the floods in Ajnala and Ramdas, Sakshi Sawhney oversaw relief efforts day and night, establishing a unique profile for her administrative skills. In response to her initiative, a 12-member committee was established to address the desire for an energy connection in the walled city, and 860 Gramme Panchayats unanimously passed a resolution against narcotics.
She repeatedly elevated the administration to the highest level in the state and met her goal of eliminating all outstanding cases in Sewa Kendras (Service Centres). She actively participated in relief operations during the floods by working with social organisations.
Stubble Management DC and Adopting TB Patients Sakshi Sawhney took a firm stand on matters such as managing one’s beard, adopting TB patients, and taking action against unauthorised encroachments. She inspired the adoption of 100 TB patients by 1700 officers. There was a decrease in stubble burning throughout her reign. Dalwinderjit Singh’s current task will be to carry on Amritsar’s development efforts at the same rate as Sakshi Sawhney set during her tenure.
