Court Stops Minister Ravneet Bittu from Making Defamatory Statements Against Punjab Health Minister

A court in Chandigarh has ordered Minister of State for Railways, Ravneet Singh Bittu, to stop making defamatory comments on social media against Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh.

This decision came after Dr. Balbir filed a legal case, saying that Bittu made false and harmful claims in a YouTube video. In the video, Bittu allegedly accused Punjab government ministers and MLAs of carrying state funds in official vehicles and dumping them at the Punjab Chief Minister’s house in New Delhi.

Dr. Balbir’s lawyer asked the court to stop Bittu from making more such statements and also requested that Google and Bittu remove the video, saying it hurt Balbir’s reputation.

After reviewing the case and the social media links provided, the court agreed that not stopping Bittu could affect the case. So, the court passed an interim order stopping Bittu from making any more defamatory posts until further notice.

The next hearing is scheduled for April 16, 2025. The court has also sent notices to Bittu and others involved in the case.
