Controversy over Rahul Gandhi being presented with Siropa in Gurudwara: SGPC President says action will be taken, notice issued, and this honor is only for great personalities.

Rahul Gandhi is given a Siropa by the manager at Gurudwara Baba Budha Sahib.

Rahul Gandhi, a Congress MP, visited flood-affected districts in Amritsar on September 15. The management of Sri Darbar Sahib and Gurudwara Baba Budha Sahib honored him during this period by giving him a Siropa.

After he was shown the Siropa, a dispute broke out. On this issue, a number of Sikh organizations voiced their disapproval to the SGPC. The SGPC has taken note of the situation and sent out a notice.

Permission to grant Siropa exclusively to outstanding Sikh figures

Late last night, the SGPC released a press release about the incident. According to President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, the management is looking into the situation. Dhami, the president of the SGPC, added that it is completely unacceptable to present a Siropa at a Gurudwara to Rahul Gandhi, a Congress party leader and a member of the Gandhi family, who are thought to be accountable for the Sikh massacre. This is against Sikh traditions and customs.
