Congress Protests Against AAP’s Land Pooling Policy, Calls It “Loot of Farmers’ Land”

Leader of Opposition Partap Singh Bajwa strongly criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ਸਰਕਾਰ’s land pooling policy, calling it a direct attack on farmers. Speaking at a protest named “Saadi Zameen, Saadi Ma” outside the GMADA office in Mohali, Bajwa said the ਸਰਕਾਰ plans to take over 65,000 acres of land across ਪੰਜਾਬ — with 6,000 acres in Mohali alone.

However, he pointed out that only 35 acres in Mohali have received farmers’ consent, showing that most farmers are against the move.

Bajwa, along with senior Congress leaders like Balbir Singh Sidhu, Sadhu Singh Dharamsot and Vijay Sharma Tinku, accused the ਸਰਕਾਰ of handing over key decisions about ਪੰਜਾਬ’s land to officials from outside the state. He also criticised ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ Bhagwant Mann for staying silent on the issue and not taking responsibility.

He also reminded ਲੋਕ of the GMADA Ecocity-2 Extension Scheme, where land was taken in 2013 but plots are still not given to farmers even after so many years.

Former Health ਮੰਤਰੀ Balbir Singh Sidhu said that due to the notification, land deals have been frozen, causing huge problems for farmers, youth, and ਸਰਕਾਰ employees. “This ਸਰਕਾਰ has harmed jawans, farmers, youth and workers,” he said.

Sidhu also alleged that crockery worth Rs 10 lakh has been bought for Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s stay at Panchayat Bhawan, questioning how such lavish spending fits with their claim of being a “common man’s” party.

The Congress has planned more protests across ਪੰਜਾਬ, demanding that the land pooling policy be taken back.
