Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has directed officials to organise a special “Kisan Milni” at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana on April 12, aimed at educating farmers on innovative, water-saving techniques for paddy cultivation.
Chairing a meeting at his official residence, the Chief Minister said the initiative would also focus on promoting high-yielding paddy varieties approved by PAU.
Mann said the paddy sowing season will begin earlier from June 1 this year to avoid post-harvest issues caused by moisture during October. A phased sowing strategy will be implemented by dividing the state into zones for better planning and support.
He added that renowned agricultural experts will guide farmers during the event. The CM also reiterated the government’s strict stance against the sale of spurious seeds, assuring strict action against offenders.
