A ₹16,209 crore road project
The government earlier started a ₹4,092 crore project for 19,373 km of rural roads, according to CM Mann. The government is now moving forward by building 44,920 km of new roads, for which tenders will shortly be released. For this, a budget of ₹16,209 crore has been set aside.
The CM made it very clear that no official would request payment or take a commission from any contractor. But the quality of the road cannot be compromised in exchange.
In a recent move, the chief minister stated that contractors won’t get paid until the village panchayats are happy with the road material.
