During a Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said the Opposition fully supports the ਸਰਕਾਰ after the Pahalgam terror attack. However, former ਪੰਜਾਬ ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ Charanjit Singh Channi created controversy by again demanding proof of surgical strikes that were said to have happened after the Pulwama attack.
Although Channi later stepped back from his statement, the BJP strongly criticized the Congress. Many BJP leaders accused the party of disrespecting the armed forces.
In a press conference after the CWC meeting, Channi said the ਸਰਕਾਰ had not taken any action even after 10 days of the Pahalgam attack. He also said cancelling visas for Pakistanis and stopping the Indus Waters Treaty are not real solutions.
BJP spokesperson CR Kesavan hit back, reminding ਲੋਕ that Channi had earlier called a soldier’s ਮੌਤ “stuntbaazi” in 2024, and now he was again doubting the military’s actions.
Channi added that the country is waiting to see strong action from the ਸਰਕਾਰ and wants quick results.
