Chandigarh Gets Approval for 328 E-Buses: The running buses were nearing expiry, with 80 thousand people to benefit.
Residents of Chandigarh and the tricity will now find it easy to travel. The Chandigarh 328 PM e-bus project has been approved by the Central Government. With the addition of these new vehicles, Chandigarh will have 428 electric buses overall.
Approximately 80,000 people who commute in the city for work or education each day would profit from this. In addition, the city’s current fleet of buses is nearing the end of its 15-year lifespan. This project has become essential because of this.
The Central Minister was praised by the administrator. In order for the “City Beautiful” to soon become carbon-free, it is imperative that all buses be gradually replaced with electric vehicles, according to Gulab Chand Kataria, the city’s administrator. Additionally, he commended the work of Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. According to the Administrator, Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) and the Ministry worked well together to expedite the issuance of the Letter of Confirmation of Quantity (LOCQ) and the Letter of Award (LOA) for the 100 e-buses that had already been approved. This made it easier to finish the job on schedule.

In two years, the bus’s tenure will be finished.
The Administrator met with Central Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in Delhi in July of this year. He brought up the Pradhan Mantri e-bus seva scheme’s clearance of 328 electric buses for Chandigarh at the meeting.
He said that in 2025 and 2027, the Chandigarh Transport Undertaking’s (CTU) and the Chandigarh City Bus Service Society’s (CCBSS) outdated diesel buses will reach the end of their 15-year lease, necessitating their replacement with electric vehicles. Therefore, in accordance with the GCC (Gross Cost Contract) model, clearance for these new buses should be given as soon as possible.
