Chandigarh Development Works Meeting Sees Corporators Upset: Mayor Attacks AAP-Congress Over Boycott, Senior Deputy Mayor Says—Development Remembered While Leaving.
The Municipal Commissioner and Congress Corporators had already met.
On November 13, a delegation from the Congress party met with Amit Kumar, the Municipal Commissioner, under the leadership of local Congress President Harmmohinder Singh Lucky.
A thorough discussion of the city’s ongoing development projects took place during this meeting.
The Mayor didn’t call a meeting of all corporators until after this.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress councillors in Chandigarh skipped the meeting convened by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Mayor Harpreet and Babla to examine the development projects. As a result, the mayor and the opposition council members are now farther apart. Regarding this, Senior Deputy Mayor Jasbir Singh Bunty and Mayor Babla have also made disparaging remarks about one another. The mayor claims that Congress’s and AAP’s conflicting views on the city’s development projects have been made public.

The Dual Face of AAP-Congress.
According to Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla, the city’s development projects have revealed the AAP and Congress’s two sides. According to her, development efforts are accelerating at this time. They (AAP-Congress) have demonstrated that they have nothing to do with development projects by abstaining from the meeting that was held to assess their own wards’ development projects. The AAP-Congress partnership, according to the mayor, is merely engaging in cheap politics. The mayor declared her intention to examine each and every development project.
Recalling Development As You Leave With just two months remaining in her term as mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor Jasbir Singh Bunty stated that she recalled progress as she departed. He claimed that because the mayor hasn’t been able to complete any significant development projects during her term, she is compelled to call the meeting. He claimed that the city’s issues with parks, sanitation, water supply, sewage, and damaged roads are unimportant to the mayor.
The opposition had sought the status of ward development at the most recent General House meeting, and the Mayor had promised to organize a conference of officials and corporators shortly to speed up ward-specific work.

A separate meeting of BJP Corporators has already been called by the mayor.
On November 12, 2025, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) corporators met separately on behalf of Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla.
According to the Mayor, when we called a meeting for our BJP corporators and office-bearers, everyone was present, and the conversation stayed upbeat and concentrated on swiftly bringing the ground reality to light.

“Even then, when the opposition was given an opportunity to review the development works in their wards for the residents who elected them, they shamelessly boycotted it.”
