Punjab Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO emphasized the relevance of Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s philosophies in addressing contemporary social issues at the Two-Day International Conference on “Gandhi and Ambedkar’s Philosophy: Inclusion, Equality, and Dignity” held here at Panjab University.
Addressing the inaugural session of the conference as Chief Guest, ETO highlighted the distinct approaches of Gandhi and Ambedkar towards justice, equality, and dignity. He said that Gandhi advocated for moral transformation and gradual change, while Ambedkar pushed for structural reforms and legal frameworks.
The Minister stressed that understanding these philosophies is crucial in addressing caste, class, and social disparities in India. He emphasized the importance of promoting understanding and acceptance among diverse communities, as well as upholding constitutional safeguards for marginalized groups.
