BREAKING: Tarn Taran SSP Dr Ravjot Kaur Grewal SUSPENDED: The Election Commission took action 3 days before the by-election; CP Amritsar handed over the charge.
Dr. Ravjot Kaur Grewal, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Tarn Taran, has been suspended by the Indian Election Commission. Three days prior to the Tarn Taran by-election, this move was conducted in accordance with the directive to suspend her immediately.
The information states that CP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar (IPS) of Amritsar has been given the additional charge of SSP Tarn Taran in her place. On November 11, voters will cast ballots in the Tarn Taran by-election, and on November 14, the outcome will be declared.
Notably, the state’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Sibin C., received a complaint against SSP Dr. Ravjot Kaur Grewal from the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) fifteen days ago. Dr. Ravjot Kaur Grewal was charged in this complaint with registering bogus charges against Akali Dal workers and turning into a puppet of the Aam Aadmi Party.
In addition to SSP Dr. Ravjot Kaur Grewal, Akali Dal President Sukhbir Badal had called for the transfer of two DSPs. It is thought that these objections were taken into consideration before taking this step.
