Bikram Majithia Requests Shift to New Jail Barrack, Seeks Arrest Papers

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia has asked a Mohali court to change his jail barrack in New Nabha Jail. He is currently in judicial custody in a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

In his request, Majithia said that even though the government believes there is a threat to his safety, he is being kept with other prisoners. He wants to be moved to a safer barrack.

Through his lawyer, he has also asked the court to provide a copy of the papers that explain why he was arrested.

The court has now sent a notice to the Vigilance Bureau (VB) and asked them to respond by July 14.

The VB told the court that they have completed a search at Sainik Farms in Delhi and submitted a pen drive as evidence. However, their investigation related to Saraya Industries is still going on.

Majithia’s current judicial custody will end on July 19, and he will be presented in court again on that day.
