The Beating Retreat ceremony at the Attari-Wagah border in Amritsar has been closed to the public until further notice. A BSF (Border Security Force) official said that the ceremony will still take place at its usual time, but people will not be allowed to watch it.
This decision came after the Indian Armed Forces carried out missile strikes on nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir early Wednesday. The military action was part of “Operation Sindoor” and was done two weeks after a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, on April 22, where 26 people—mostly tourists—were killed.
After the Pahalgam attack, the BSF had already reduced the scale of the ceremony. Now, it will continue behind closed gates with no visitors allowed.
