The Punjab government has suspended Bathinda DSP City-I, Harbans Singh. A senior police officer from Chandigarh confirmed the suspension but said further details would be shared soon.
Sources claim that the DSP was suspended for allegedly not taking action against drug traffickers operating in his area. However, there is speculation among residents that Harbans Singh may have been made a scapegoat due to internal clashes between two factions of the ruling party in Bathinda.
Both Bathinda DIG Harjit Singh and SSP Amneet Kondal were unavailable for comment.
Harbans Singh has previously served in key roles in Bathinda, including as Station House Officer (SHO) at Kotwali and Civil Lines police stations.
This move comes shortly after another high-profile suspension — Fazilka SSP Varinder Singh Brar was suspended on May 28.
