Delhi Police has arrested another person in connection with the grenade attack on the Qila Lal Singh police station in Batala. This arrest happened after questioning terrorist Akashdeep Singh who was earlier caught in Indore.
The arrested person has been identified as Karanvir Singh a 22-year-old from Channke village in Amritsar. He has studied only till Class 12. During the investigation it was found that Karanvir had arranged a place for the attackers to stay before the grenade attack on April 7.
This case is now being handled by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Karanvir told the police that he got connected to Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) a terrorist group through social media. He received money and instructions for planning the attack from BKI handlers sitting in foreign countries.
In 2024 Karanvir even traveled to a West Asian country with the help of the BKI network. He admitted that he gave shelter to two suspects before the attack who later went and threw the grenade at the police station.
Karanvir was not working alone. His brother Gursewak was also involved in the terror plan. Gursewak has already been arrested.
Delhi Police has formed a new ‘Operation Cell’ to keep an eye on Khalistani terror activities. This cell will monitor terrorist plans being run from countries like Pakistan and Canada using social media. It will try to stop young people in India from being misled and pushed into terrorism.
DCP Special Cell, Amit Kaushik said, This arrest is a big success against BKI’s network in India. We are now questioning the accused to find more links and other people involved.
