Ban on the sale of meat and liquor on Bhagwan Valmiki’s Janmotsav (Birth Anniversary): Restrictions on October 6 and 7 in Jalandhar, Half-day holiday in schools too.
In honour of Bhagwan Valmiki Ji Maharaj’s manifestation festival (Prakat Utsav) on October 6 and 7, District Magistrate Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal has issued orders prohibiting the sale of meat and alcohol close to procession routes and places of worship.
Maintaining a calm and respectable religious environment throughout the manifestation festival is the aim of this order. Processions (shobha yatras) and religious events will take place throughout Jalandhar on these two days, with many devotees expected to attend.
Holiday in school-colleges after noon.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal has made another significant announcement in this series: all government and private schools, colleges and ITI institutions located within the boundaries of the Jalandhar Municipal Corporation will remain closed after 2:00 PM on 6 October in observance of the Shobha Yatra procession. The administration claims that this decision was made to preserve traffic flow and to respect the sentiments of the populace.
