Babbar Khalsa terrorist, wanted in Punjab, extradited from Abu Dhabi.
September 27, Chandigarh With careful cooperation and assistance from central agencies, Punjab Police on Saturday deported terrorist Parminder Singh, Pindi, from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, to India in a historic operation, according to Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav.
According to him, Pindi is a close associate of foreign-based terrorists Happy Passia and Harwinder Singh, also known as Rinda, and is responsible for a number of horrible crimes in the Batala-Gurdaspur area, such as extortions, violent assaults, and petrol bombings.
In response to Batala Police’s request for a Red Corner Notice (RCN), a committed four-person team headed by a senior police officer travelled to the United Arab Emirates on September 24 in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs and UAE authorities. The team fulfilled all legal requirements and successfully returned the accused to face justice, according to the DGP.
“This successful extradition underscores Punjab Police’s zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and organised crime as well as its advanced investigative capabilities and global reach,” he stated.
“We are thankful to the Central agencies, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Government of the United Arab Emirates for their invaluable cooperation in this joint effort to uphold justice and strengthen national security,” said DGP Yadav.
In April, Passia, a wanted mobster who allegedly planned 16 terrorist strikes in Punjab, was taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the United States.
He was also wanted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), India’s top anti-terror agency. In connection with his suspected involvement in grenade assaults on a Chandigarh home and Punjabi police stations, the NIA had offered Passia a reward of Rs 5 lakh.
In partnership with Pakistan’s ISI, Rinda and the outlawed terrorist organisation Babbar Khalsa International, Passia, a close associate of Pakistan-based gangster-turned-terrorist Harvinder Singh, also known as Rinda, have participated in a number of terrorist attacks in Punjab. Teams from the ICE and the Federal Bureau of Investigation captured him.
