A 65-year-old man has died and two others are in critical condition following a fresh diarrhoea outbreak in Changera ਪਿੰਡ near Rajpura Banaur Road in Patiala ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ.
The deceased has been identified as Sarwan Singh. The two men in critical condition are Amar Singh (55) and Gurpal Singh (65).
After receiving the report, a health department team led by Civil Surgeon Dr. Jagpalinder Singh reached the ਪਿੰਡ and collected water and medical samples for testing. Around 20 villagers have received treatment for diarrhoea-related symptoms.
This is the second diarrhoea outbreak in the ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ in a short span. Earlier, four ਲੋਕ had died and over 100 fell sick in Alipur Araian ਪਿੰਡ due to a similar outbreak. So far, five ਲੋਕ have lost their lives in these incidents, including two women.
Health officials are investigating the cause and taking preventive measures to stop further spread.
