Announcement of August 20 holiday in Sangrur: Schools and colleges will be closed in observance of the anniversary of Sant Harchand Longowal’s ਮੌਤ.
Another local holiday has been announced by the Punjabi ਸਰਕਾਰ. In observance of the martyr Sant Harchand Singh Longowal’s ਮੌਤ anniversary, the Sangrur ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ will have a holiday on August 20. On this day, the ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ’s ਸਰਕਾਰ buildings, colleges, and schools will all be closed.
Notably, the ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ’s 2025 calendar did not include this holiday. But ਅੱਜ, a notice proclaiming this municipal holiday has been released by the state ਸਰਕਾਰ. As a result of this decision, the August 20 holiday will benefit Sangrur ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹਾ students and ਸਰਕਾਰ workers.
