According to sources, Ganesh Bhatt, the accused, was also linked to senior police officers. In addition, there is talk in the police department that he even ate dinner with several of the policemen. The Operation Cell is currently in charge of the investigation, which was moved from the Crime Branch.
The police will now also look at Ganesh’s phone details. This will show which cops he communicated with and where he was at all times when he was with them.

According to Nikhil Vashisht, the accused’s attorney, he had requested in court that the CCTV footage from the Sector-16 hospital be kept on file, and this request had been fulfilled. They will greatly benefit from this in the lawsuit.

The Operation Cell has now taken over the case of the phony major, who was taken into custody by the Chandigarh Crime Branch on August 22, 2025. The case was moved from the Crime Branch to the Operation Cell by the court. The court denied both of the Crime Branch’s earlier requests for a seven-day police remand of the defendant. Indeed, the defendant had claimed that he had endured “third-degree torture” throughout his incarceration. As a result, the operation cell is now in charge of the case’s investigation.

Nikhil Vashisht, the accused’s attorney, has claimed that Ganesh Bhatt was tortured by the police in the “third degree.” A medical board was then established in Sector-16 to perform a medical examination and submit the results to the court.
The investigation stated that Ganesh Bhatt suffered minor injuries all over his body in addition to injuries to his head, hand, foot, eye, and ear.

Based on a tip from a female constable, the Chandigarh Crime Branch apprehended Ganesh Bhatt on August 22, 2025, and filed a formal case against him. According to the allegation, he stole a gold ring and Rs 5 lakh from a female constable at the Sector-11 police station. By posing as a major, the accused had won her trust.
