The ਪੰਜਾਬ Special Security Force (SSF) recently bought 144 Toyota vehicles, each costing ₹36,89,903. However, concerns are being raised over how this purchase was made. The ਸਰਕਾਰ did not negotiate any discount, which is usually a standard practice in such large transactions.
It is believed that around ₹14 crore could have been saved, especially since one individual reportedly managed to get a ₹10 lakh discount on a similar car.
Additionally, the purchase was not made through the central ਸਰਕਾਰ’s GeM portal, which is mandatory for all ਸਰਕਾਰ vehicle purchases. No advertisement or tender process was used, and no other dealers were contacted, further raising suspicions of irregularity.
The deal was allegedly facilitated by Rajveer, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ Bhagwant Mann. Reports suggest he received two Innova vehicles in exchange for helping close the deal. Complaints have been filed with the DGP, Union Home ਮੰਤਰੀ, CBI, and ED, accusing the ਮੁੱਖ ਮੰਤਰੀ of involvement in corruption.
ਲੋਕ are now demanding a white paper to determine if these cars have truly made a difference or reduced any accidents. If no action is taken, the case may be taken to the High Court.
